Being a Badass is my Favorite Hobby!

The title of this post was inspired by a t-shirt I want to make. We were working out last night, and I blurted out "Being a Badass is my Favorite Hobby!" We were doing some exercise I hate (butt-lifts with one leg. YOU TRY IT, if you think it's so easy) I always say stupid snarky things to keep myself from screaming. My right calf has been feeling like it's going to pop like a water balloon. I stop and re-adjust when stuff hurts, but sometimes my ass is just getting kicked and there really isn't a proper posture for that is there? It must have been a really hard workout, because I slept until 10am after going back to bed at 7am. (I get up at 6:30am and make Scott his lunch for the day. It's just a good wifey-poo thing to do. Send him off with a kiss and a hug to face the 405.) I usually stay up, read a little, clean the house, maybe catch an early yoga class...kind of arrange myself and my environment. Today I curled up with the dog, and slept like I'd bee...

The Challenge

Dear Gentle Readers: I have issued myself a challenge in the spirit of getting shit done these days! I gave myself 25 minutes to write a blog without stopping and bothering to edit myself. Well, I'll copyedit but I plan to let the hair down. Back up boys, I'm taking my bra off and getting comfortable. DO you know why I addressed you as "Gentle Reader"? That is how the Marquis de Sade addressed his porn to his audience...Dear Gentle Reader... As if anything was gentle was to follow! I do have a theory about de Sade's actual thrust of subject (pun intended). I think he was disguising his political views with rampant porn. Every sex scene seemed to have a discussion on personal freedom before, during or after in his collected works. I think he draped tits all over his work to keep the prudes out of it; state his views on revolution; and still keep his head. It still backfired on him, he ended getting locked up. He lived, but not really. Anyway! That is not my p...

Working out like a maniac!

I did a 2 hour workout Sunday that I thought was going to kill me. I did 30 reps on the bluff stairs. That is 4,000 bloody steps. And I didn't die! I finished, I did the full workout, no BS. I took 20 minutes longer than everyone else. I'm still whimpering every time I step down, but I finished. That tells me I can do tough mudder . I'm figuring if I do tough mudder, I'll breeze through ninja warrior. At least I won't have to run a half mile between each obstacle. I'm still scared, but definitely resolute. I will do this. I'm excited by the challenge. I fantasize about the physical achievement of finishing it. I used to watch samurai films and marvel at the spider monkey like qualities of the fight scenes. Just leaping and flitting all over the scenery. I read books on ninjas, and the Bushido code. I bought a ninja outfit at a huge gun show in Dallas, TX when I was 13. I always wanted to be a lithe strong warrior, not a pudgy little white girl on a dirt fa...

ANW Back Online!!!

Hello gentle reader, Eda is back online. At the behest of various friends that exclaimed the past few months, "Eda, you really got to write this shit down!" I am promising myself to post at least once a week. I may have quit writing but I kept working out. Kim had her baby, and became home-bound. Liz, Sarah, Al, and I have been holding the fort down at Ocean & Granada at 6pm MWF. It feels good to have a team of people you meet with regularly. We talk about horrible personal things and it is hilarious!! I'm not talking personal like grief, relationships, children or any other trauma mama bs that is supposed to be typical "female topics" (barf!) Nope. Me and my girls bitch about farting while running, where to wipe snot after you are covered in sand and your sleeves would take a layer of skin off your face if you wiped with them, lovely topics like that. We really delve into how undignified giving your all really is. At the end of our workouts ...
